The faculty member that I interviewed had some eclectic, but interesting things to say about what I was studying. The main point that he got to was that Greek Institutions are supposedly founded on ancient Greek philosophies. In tandem to this fact, Greek philosophy was translated into Latin by Muslims and Islamic scholars, which would then be translated much later on into a language that today's Greek (as in organizations) students understand. So, in a way, Greek members in their ignorance of Muslim Americans, are doubly ignorant of their own histories. He believes that if Greek members were made aware of this, they would not be inclined to any prejudice toward Muslim Americans, because they would be cured of their ignorance about their own roots, and therefore have no grounds with which to discriminate.
